14 August 2015: Punj Lloyd wins engineering deal for Ennore LNG Storage Tanks

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd has awarded Punj Lloyd Group a $75 million contract for a LNG storage tanks.

The scope of work involves  geotechnical investigation, early earth works, construction of two 180,000 cubic metre capacity LNG storage tanks on elevated piled foundation for LNG import, storage and re-gasification. The LNG terminal owner is Indian Oil Corporation and the terminal is located at Ennore port in Tamil Nadu, India.

The LNG imported to the Ennore terminal will be used by the utility company for power generation as an alternative fuel and as feedstock by fertilizer plants. The project is expected to be completed in 33 months. The terminal will initially have a capacity of 5 million metric tonnes per annum (mmpta) and may expand capacity to 15 mmtpa in the future.
